She also writes extensively on environmental subjects for the Evening Standard and the Sunday Times, has published two bestselling novels, Pandora’s Diamond and Chalet Tiara and is now writing her third, The Green Goddess Diaries, based on her environmental escapades in the urban jungle.
She has appeared frequently on television and radio discussing current affairs, animal welfare and environmental issues and is currently making a series of documentary programmes for CNBC.
Julia is currently turning her top floor, 2 bedroom King’s Road flat into a model eco-friendly home. She grows her own herbs and vegetables, composts all her kitchen waste, makes her own cleaning products and is about to take delivery of 6 bantams. The Good Life in Chelsea! But now she wants to go even further….
Advised by architect Alex Michaelis, (currently greening up David Cameron’s house), she is about to convert her loft into a bedroom (using the latest sustainable technology and using reclaimed materials wherever possible) and is installing cutting edge solar panels, low flush lavatories, rainwater harvesting and has received planning permission for the first three wind turbines in a conservation area anywhere in the country. Within six months she will manufacture enough electricity to be self sufficient in her energy needs as well as have enough left over to sell back to the National Grid. Well that’s the plan anyway.
